Should a person fail a segment, the test must be terminated and the person will need to reschedule to complete or retake the test(s).

Waiting times for failed segments:
Vehicle inspection = 2 days
Basic control skills = 7 days
Road test = 2,7, or 14 days depending on law violation, points, or dangerous action.

Scores of the passed segments of the skills test are valid for the length that the CLP is valid.

Manual Transmission

We recommend always testing in a manual transmission equipped truck.

When passing the exam in a manual driven vehicle, you have no restriction on what type of truck you drive, whether it is manual or automatic.

Automatic Transmission

Automatic truck tests are conducted the same as a manual truck tests.  These are easier to pass for minimal skilled drivers, but will place a automatic restriction on your new CDL.

To lift the automatic restriction you must test again in a manual truck.

Pre-TRIP Inspection

Learning your pre-trip inspection is very critical on testing day.  If you don’t pass your pre-trip, you will not be allowed access to proceed to your next test until the pre-trip is passed.

This is the law for all examiners. We want you prepared to PASS, so study.

Back-Back-Back

You will be tested on 3 backing maneuvers: straight Line, off-set and alley dock. If you don’t pass the backing you don’t  move on to the road test

Road test

Finally, you will be asked to drive  on a D.O.T. approved testing route, with the 3rd party examiner in the passenger seat scoring your driving
